NO TO INDISCRIMINATE BEATINGS

Habana, april 22, 2009

No to indiscriminate beatings

Hunger striker together with Antúnez in Placetas, Carlos Michael Morales Rodríguez informs, from Villa Clara; who in hours of the afternoon of the 21 went to visit Ana Margarita Perdigón Brito, vicepresident of the Boards Coordinators of the Liberal Unit and his father Bienvenido Perdigón Pacheco. Ana Margarita had managed to trick the operational blockade which forbided the access to the house and entered the same. But her father did not have the same luck, being detained and removed from the area by force.

Afterwards it was known that Mr. Perdigón, - a man who is in his senior years - they gave him such a beating, which provoked in him a cerebral ischemia and had to hospitalize him in a delicate state of health. He Added that he was informed of the refered internment, which they consider a stratagem so that Ana Margarita would leave the house. The next day, when ms. Perdigón Brito decided to leave, she was detained by the political police who detained her for a couple of extra hours.

The Liberal Unity of the Republic of Cuba, condems these abuses which put in danger the lives of the people. Also, we notify that the hunger strikers are being threaten that the house will be assaulted so as to put an end to the strike. We call the democratic forces of the world to elevate their voices to put a stop to any kind of trampling of our natural rights.
