MARCH “IN SUPPORT OF FREEDOM”

MARCH IN SUPPORT OF THE “DAMAS DE BLANCO”

AND FREEDOM AND HUMAN RIGHTS FOR CUBA

On March 21st in Havana, Cuba, the “Damas De Blanco” (Ladies In White) ended their Marches commemorating the Seventh Anniversary of the “Black Spring” in Cuba which took place in April of 2003 when they suffered the unjust incarceration of their husbands and sons. Since then, these valiant women, dignified, and united in the pain of being forcibly separated from their loved ones have been fighting for their release.

This past week, the violent persecution that the “Damas De Blanco” suffered at the hands of Cuba’s repressive government was such that the President of the European People’s Party (EPP) in the European Parliament, Joseph Daul, declared, “It is high time that the European Union clearly defends all those who, in Cuba, risk their lives on a daily basis defending Human Rights and who are working towards a peaceful transition to democracy”.

The moment has come for us as well; Cubans who live in freedom and anyone who would like to join us, to show our strength, support and spirit to the “Damas” and to the Cuban people.

LET’S WALK TOGETHER LIKE THE “DAMAS DE BLANCO”; with dignity, in silence, with a flower of hope in our hands and dressed in white to represent purity of thought, actions and new beginnings!

In the words of our illustrious poet, José Martí, “The campaigns of a people are only weak when in them is not enlisted the heart of a woman; but when a woman is shaken and helps, when a woman, timid and quiet in her nature, cheers and applauds, when a woman cultured and virtuous anoints a deed with the honey of her love, the deed is invincible”.

Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 5pm we will gather on Beacom Blvd. between S.W. 7th and 8th Street. We will walk on 8th Street, in Little Havana, from 27th Avenue to 22nd Avenue beginning at 6pm sharp.

We will walk for the love of freedom…

MARCHA “APOYO A LA LIBERTAD”

MARCHA EN APOYO A LAS DAMAS DE BLANCO

Y LA LIBERTAD Y LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS PARA CUBAEl 21 de Marzo, en La Habana, Cuba, las “Damas De Blanco” cerraron la Jornada en conmemoración al Séptimo Aniversario de la “Primavera Negra” de Cuba. En Abril del año 2003 sufrieron la injusta encarcelación de sus hijos y esposos y desde entonces estas valientes y dignas mujeres, unidas en el dolor de la separación familiar, luchan por lograr la liberación de sus seres mas queridos.

La semana pasada, las “Damas De Blanco” sufrieron un hostigamiento tan violento que el Presidente del Grupo PPE del Parlamento Europeo, Joseph Daul dijo, “Ha llegado la hora de que la Unión Europea tome partido claramente en defensa de todos aquellos que en el interior de Cuba ponen en peligro todos los días sus vidas en defensa de los derechos humanos y de una transición pacifica hacia la democracia”.

Es el momento de que también nosotros, los Cubanos viviendo en libertad y todos los que quieran unirse, brindemos absoluto apoyo y aliento a las “Damas” y al pueblo Cubano.

CAMINEMOS JUNTOS COMO CAMINAN LAS DAMAS DE BLANCO; con dignidad, en silencio, con un gladiolo de esperanza en las manos y vestidos de blanco representando pureza de pensamiento y acción y nuevos comienzos!

En las palabras de nuestro ilustre poeta, José Martí, “Las campañas de los pueblos solo son débiles cuando en ellas no se alista el corazón de mujer; pero cuando la mujer se estremece y ayuda, cuando la mujer tímida y quieta en su natural, anima y aplaude, cuando la mujer culta y virtuosa unge la obra con la miel de su cariño, la obra es invencible”.

Jueves, Marzo 25 del 2010 a las 5 de la tarde nos reuniremos en Beacom Blvd. entre la Calle Siete y la Calle Ocho del S.W. Caminaremos la Calle 8, en la Pequeña Habana, de la 27 avenida a la 22 avenida comenzando a las 6pm en punto.
Caminaremos por amor a la libertad…
