Rita Montaner - Lullaby, 1951!
A clip from the amazing Rita Montaner, known and loved worldwide and in Cuba just as "Rita!" Her talent and beautiful star burned the longest, and she was loved and revered by almost all of Cuba, up to and nearing the "Revolution." Ms. M was Born in Guanabacoa, Cuba in 1900, and this movie was made in Mexico in 1951. Rita too was 51 years old, and still a winner! The story could take weeks to tell. For now, suffice it to say that in this scene Rita, as the dishwasher, is singing to her beautiful daughter who chooses to ignore and reject her. This was a recurring theme in films from Mexico during the 40's and 50's; unresolved, and seriously horrible, continuing racial issues.
