Como puertorriqueño y miembro de la Unidad Liberal me enorgullece profundamente pertenecer a un partido que incluye a tan ilustres personajes como la que compone dicho grupo de luchadores pacíficos. Muy en especial al señor Guillermo Fariñas Hernández, quien felicito enormemente por habérsele otorgado el Premio Sajarov. Muy bien merecido...
Espero que por su valentía en alas por el bienestar de sus compatriotas encarcelados, injustamente y, por su lucha incansable, para que se logre el restablecimiento de un estado de derechos en Cuba, que éste gran compatriota, junto con todos los suyos, puedan hacer realidad ese sueño.
Se que para mí es sencillamente fácil exigir y recomendar desde la comodidad del mundo libre, pero espero que en el futuro, de esa isla hermana, querido por todos los que sufrimos el dolor de éstos hermanos nuestros, podamos ver surgir otros como; Guillermo Fariñas, Jorge luís Pérez García (Antúnez), Oscar Elías Bicet, el fenecido mártir Orlando Zapata Tamayo, Darsi Ferrer, Ariel Sigler Amaya, Guido Sigler Amaya, Reina luisa Tamayo y Las Damas de Blanco. Verdaderos héroes, todos, de éstos tiempos convulsionados en que tanta falta hacen tales figuras.
Le suplico al mundo para que nos unamos todos, para que éstos cubanos excepcionales, puedan volver a ver una patria renacer de las cenizas de un, desaparecido, régimen brutal.
Un mundo desunido está subjeto a una vida de caos y miseria.

I hope that for his bravery on the subject of the welfare of his fellow prisoners, unjustly incarcerated, for his tireless struggle for the attainment of the restoration of a state of rights in Cuba, this great man, with all those close to him, can some day realize his dream.
For me it is just to easy to call and recommend from the comfort of the free world, but I hope in the future, this sister island, beloved by all who suffer the pain of these brothers of ours, that we may some day see the emergence of others like Guillermo Fariñas, Jorge Luís García Pérez (Antúnez), Oscar Elias Bicet, the late martyr Orlando Zapata Tamayo, Darsi Ferrer, Ariel Sigler Amaya, Guido Sigler Amaya, Reina Luis Tamayo and Las Damas de Blanco. True heroes, in convulsive times in which such figures are so badly needed.
I pray to unite us all, so that these exceptional Cubans can return home some day to see their country rise from the ashes of an ex brutal regime.
A broken world is subject for a life of chaos and misery.
