Hatillo, Puerto Rico - http://www.cubanoticias.com/ - The program "Magazine Cubano" has become one of the best and most intertaining program in the radio network of Puerto Rico.
Jay Martínez who directs the program for two hours on sunday from 7 pm to 9 pm has gained such an accelerating rating in audience that it has become almost impossible to participate when calling. The most amazing thing about this program is that the director and his host do the program volutarily for free every sunday. Its kind of shameful to hear that such talents, who in another station would be receiving a juicy salary, are being economicaly neglected. I honestly hope that some day a talent agent could appreciate their talent and recruit them on a television set as in La Mega, Univision of Puerto Rico, Wapa or Telemundo. Their fame is transending bouderies and are starting to become international figures, since many people are calling from even outside the island.
The program is highly intertaining, humorous, educational and very informative, people who hear the program can not get enough of it. Listeners are even requesting that the program be extended again to its former three hours. Unfortunetly the program is on only once a week and we are hoping that the program can go on live on TV every day. Jay Martínez, Sixto López, Ing. Abascal and Enrique Rubio keep up the good work, you guys are really the best in the business.
Note: There is one thing Jay Martínez talked about on the show yesterday that really cought my attention, and it is the outrageuos and unprofessional way in which many of the news media are treating the cuban situation, which has been going on for many years; and they are refusing to pin point the oppression, repression, the tyranny and the violation of human rights which the cuban people are being victims of, just for the fact that they can get into good graces with the cuban dictatorship so that they can be able to sent reporters to Cuba any time they wish, with the permision of the Castros. It is a shame that the suffering of the cuban disisidents cannot be perceived as our own suffering since we really have so much in common. The struggle of the political prisoners, the independent librarians, disidents and more then 70% of the population who are requesting desperatly a change from half a century of dictatorship to a peaceful transition to democracy and the restablishment of human rights; this type of news is barely or never covered by the news media in Puerto Rico. The majority of the times the media only talks about the cuban situation is when it comes to criticizing the cuban disidents who are living in our island, but the violations of the rights of disidents in Cuba as in the case of Dr. Oscar Elías Bicest, Orlando Zapata Tamayo and many other political heroes who are languishing in those hellish dungeons of Cuba never or ever are mentioned. Only the courageous program of "SuperExclusivo", hosted by Kobo Santarosa and Hector Travieso, have had the valor and shown some concern about the cuban plight.
Reporters in Puerto Rico should start taking a stand and showing true valor and concern by uniting with the cuban disidents in their struggle for a democratic and free Cuba and stop being a pawn in the hands of a tyranny which is more concern in extending their stay to perpetuate the cuban suffering, and also we should help to put a stop to the media, in Puerto Rico, which is being a part of the international conspiracy in perpetuating the communist cause.
