Durante los últimos meses nuestra voz se ha alzado con resultados contundentes y la dictadura ha demostrado que es cada vez más vulnerable, al aumentar considerablemente la represión a los ciudadanos cubanos y a promotores de Cuba Decide.   El pasado 8 de septiembre, Día de la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, fue convocada una manifestación en la que los ciudadanos se reunieron con un girasol en mano para exigir el respeto a sus derechos. Esta muestra de poder ciudadano demostró una dictadura cobarde. Un grupo de designados que no consigue disfrazar su fracaso preferió reprimir y encarcelar antes de respetar la libertad de sus ciudadanos. Ante la visita de personas como Federica Mogherini, Alta representante de la Unión para Asuntos Exteriores y Política de Seguridad, y ante los Reyes de España, la dictadura ha demostrado soberbia para justificar represiones y torturas ante nuestros ciudadanos.   Desde octubre, José Daniel Ferrer, líder de UNPACU y promotor de Cuba Decide, fue violentamente arrestado junto a 3 activistas. Tras una fuerte campaña internacional, pudimos comprobar que Ferrer está siendo torturado, lamentablemente no contamos con pruebas de vida de Fernando González, José Pupo Chaveco y Roilán Zarraga Ferrer.   El 25 de octubre, la oposición cubana demostró unidad y firmeza en el evento Pasos de Cambio, reuniendo más de 600 personas para reafirmar el Acuerdo por la Democracia y denunciar la encarcelación arbitraria de Ferrer, González, Pupo y Zárraga.   Los promotores de Cuba Decide hemos denunciado ante la Unión Europea, naciones de las Américas y líderes del mundo los crímenes cometidos contra ciudadanos valientes y menores de edad. Hemos hecho llamados a la acción y seguimos monitoreando cada cubano que ha sido violentado, arrestado o sigue desaparecido.   Para ayudarnos a darle voz a nuestros hermanos valientes puedes reenviar a tus amigos y familiares este boletín luego de leerlo. The Cuban dictatorship has considerably increased its repression against citizens and promoters of Cuba Decide, demonstrating its growing vulnerability. In response to the ever-growing tyranny of the regime, our voices have gotten louder and we have achieved significant results over the course of the last few months.   On September 8, the feast of our Lady of Charity Caridad del Cobre, citizens, with sunflowers in hand, participated in a powerful demonstration in response to a visit by High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, that demanded respect for basic human rights and exposed Mogherini’s deliberate ignorance towards the violation of these rights on the Island.   These demonstrators’ bold gesture of citizen empowerment highlighted the cowardice of a dictatorship that is comprised of governmental appointees who neglect to disguise their own failures and continue to choose, and justify, repression and imprisonment in the place of respecting civil liberties.   The Castro dictatorship has illustrated its arrogance by rationalizing the perpetuation of repression and torture of Cuban citizens. These sentiments have been expressed to members of the international community, who show no opposition to the regime, such as Federica Mogherini and the King and Queen of Spain, during their respective visits to the Island.   On October 1st 2019, José Daniel Ferrer, leader of UNPACU and promoter of Cuba Decide, was violently arrested along with three other peaceful activists. After vigorously garnering attention and support through an international campaign, evidence was gathered and analyzed to determine that Ferrer is being tortured. Proof of life for Fernando González, José Pupo Chaveco and Roilán Zarraga are yet to be determined.   Later that same month, upwards of 600 people from the opposition congregated at the Path Toward Change event to ratify the Agreement for Democracy and to denounce the arbitrary imprisonment of Ferrer, González, Pupo Chaveco and Zárraga. This unified display of solidarity reaffirmed Cuba Decide’s unwavering renunciation of the dictatorship’s violation of human rights.   The promoters of Cuba Decide have been zealously denouncing all the crimes committed against these Cuban citizens, who exhibited unparalleled courage to speak out against their oppressor, before the European Union, nations of the Americas and several world leaders.   In an effort to drive change, several calls to action have been initiated and we continue to monitor the situation of every Cuban who has suffered violence, been arrested or is still missing on the Island.   Please, help us spread the voice of our brave brothers and sisters by forwarding this Newsletter to your friends and relatives.   This summary is made specially for you.
